Easily adjust your notifications and settings for a better user experience.

Step 1 – Open the notification settings

  • Click on gear icon at the bottom of the menu on the left.
  • Select Personal settings.
  • Expand the list Notices.

Step 2 – Sound and Devices

  • Notification sounds for chat messages – enabled by default, toggle off to turn off.
  • Select device for notification sound – the standard speaker is selected by default, select another if necessary.
  • Sound for incoming calls – enabled by default, toggle off to turn off.
  • Incoming call ringtone – toggle off Use default ringtone to choose your own ringtone.

Step 3 – Device Notifications

  • Toggle on to enable notifications on specific devices.

Step 4 – Chat notifications

  • Choose when you want to receive chat notifications:
    • All new messages.
    • Only when mentioned.
    • Never.
  • You can turn off notifications completely for specific channels.

Step 5 – Message notifications (direct chat & channels)

  • Only applies to channels that are not muted.
  • Alternative:
    • All new messages (direct, starred channels, and mentions).
    • Never.

Step 6 – Reaction notifications

  • Applies to reactions (emoji) to messages, files or conversations that you have written/shared.
  • Alternative:
    • All reactions.
    • Only in direct and starred channels.
    • Never.

Step 7 – Muted channels

  • View and manage muted channels:
    1. Expand the list of muted channels.
    1. Find the channel and click to enable notifications again.
  • Mute a channel:
    1. Expand the list of unmuted channels.
    1. Find the channel and click to mute.
  • Temporarily mute:
    1. Open the chat/channel.
    1. Click on the three dots → Mutethe icon.
    1. Choose how long the channel will be silent.

Step 8 – Telephony notifications

  • Toggle off to turn off notifications for missed calls and voicemails.
  • Toggle on to show a notification on your phone with information about the caller.

Step 9 – Email notifications

  • Toggle off to turn off notifications for new emails.

Step 10 – Line Status Notices

  • Monitor a colleague's line status:
    1. Click on the colleague's red telephone receiver.
    1. Click on Notify when the call ends.
  • Remove monitoring:
    1. Click on the colleague's red phone receiver → Remove monitoring.
    1. Or click the cross next to the user in the list below Notifications → Line status.
