To be able to add someone to a chat channel, they must be a member of the team where the channel is located. Users with the permission Users and teams can do this.
Add a user to a channel
On computer
Step 1 – Open the channel
- Go to the channel where you want to add a person.
Step 2 – Open the menu
- Click the menu in the upper right corner of the channel.
Step 3 – Add member
- Select Add team member.
Step 4 – Search or select user
- Enter the name of the person or select from the list.
Step 5 – Confirm
- Click Add.
On mobile
Step 1 – Open the channel
- Go to the channel where you want to add a person.
Step 2 – Open the menu
- Tap the menu in the upper right corner of the channel.
Step 3 – Add member
- Select Add team member.
Step 4 – Search or select user
- Enter the name of the person or select from the list.
Step 5 – Confirm
- Tap Add.
Add a guest to a channel
Guest users are free and can be created in unlimited numbers. They only have access to the channels they are invited to and can only directly chat with members in those channels.
On computer
Step 1 – Open the channel.
Step 2 – Click the menu in the upper right corner of the channel.
Step 3 – Select Add Guest.
Step 4 – Fill in the guest's email address.
Step 5 – Click Create.
On mobile
Step 1 – Open the channel.
Step 2 – Tap the menu in the upper right corner of the channel.
Step 3 – Select Add Guest.
Step 4 – Fill in the guest's email address.
Step 5 – Press Create.
Create an invitation link
Alternatively, you can create an invitation link to the channel.
On computer
Step 1 – Open the channel.
Step 2 – Click the menu in the upper right corner of the channel.
Step 3 – Select Add Guest.
Step 4 – Click Create invitation link instead.
Step 5 – Copy the link and send it to the person you want to invite.
On mobile
Step 1 – Open the channel.
Step 2 – Tap the menu in the upper right corner of the channel.
Step 3 – Select Add Guest.
Step 4 – Tap Create invitation link instead.
Step 5 – Copy the link and send it to the person you want to invite.
